The 17th annual Alumni in Action Day was held on the Friday of Homecoming weekend, September 28th. Given this convenient timing, and terrific weather, we had a nice turn out of alumni, as well as a very strong participation level from the actives and pledges. As is the case with each AIA event, there is one significant interior project to couple with the exterior landscaping and maintenance projects. This year’s interior project was focused on making numerous upgrades to the first-floor formal room (now officially dedicated as the Gary Batesole Formal Room) and adding new furnishings to the “pool room” (on the west side of the front foyer).
The upgrades to the Gary Batesole Formal Room include repaired and newly painted walls, new ceiling and tabletop lighting fixtures, replacement of window curtains with shades, 12 new conference table chairs, a new large flat screen TV over the fireplace and a remounting and addition of awards, photos and plaques. This is all in addition to a new floor, compliments of the housing corporation. The result is an amazingly impressive transformation that actives and alumni have raved about. The exterior upgrades consist of the removal of 3 very large/overgrown trees along the front of the house and the addition/replacement of many of the plantings surrounding the front patio and around our flagpole.
As a bonus this year, the local Lafayette ABC/NBC/Fox television affiliate paid a visit to the event and filmed a segment about our AIA activities which ran as the lead story on all the Friday evening time slots. Be sure to check it out on this YouTube link!

Please plan to visit the house soon and check all these wonder upgrades out for yourself as the brothers would love to show them off to visiting alumni. Also, please consider attending homecoming next year and plan to arrive a day early to participate in AIA 2024!
