Thanks to James Geist for sending us an update on how the Grand Prix Team did this year! Read on below.
We had a tough start to the race (I was a bit too conservative) but I found my stride and the kart ran great in the first stint. The pit stop went a little off the rails when we couldn’t get it started back up after exchanging fuel. When I finally got back out on track I had dropped to 16th, I believe. I did my best to fight through the traffic and make up as many places as possible and we finished up in 8th place, 2nd among fraternities.
Although we finished top 10, I’m a bit bummed and Henry reminded me to never look at the data after the race unless you win because I found we lost about 5 laps with our pit troubles and finished just 3 laps behind 5th place and 5 laps behind 4th. On the positive side, we certainly have the pace in the kart to be competitive for years to come. With a quick pit stop, a reliable kart, and a strong driver (which I think Henry will be) we should be seriously competing for the overall win these next couple years.
My main goal this year was to finish the race as we failed to last year but the pace of the kart was phenomenal and there’s a lot to look forward to. Thanks again for all of your support!
