The final results for the Iron Phi Phikeia challenge our pledges competed in are in! The competition was geared around raising the most money for ALS in the month of October. For those who don’t know what an Iron Phi is, it’s a competition to raise $1000 for ALS and compete in an athletic competition in memory of Phi great Lou Gehrig. If one successfully completes the challenge one earns an Iron Phi bond number. For example, I’m #525 which is pretty special since it is one lower than my dad’s (526)!
The Fall Phikeia Pledge Class enjoying their time on the front steps of 503 W. State St. during their bid dinner. | The Fall 2016 Phikeia pledge class is hard at work striving to get high grades. They enjoy the studying in our gorgeous new dining room gives them. The big tables and large space beautifully meshes the opportunity to studying and hang out with their Phikeia Brothers. |
Considering our Iron Phi footprint prior to this competition was little to non-existent (roughly $4,200), we in no way should’ve been given the opportunity to compete. Yet, we were able to squeak in as an at-large chapter and made a huge impact! Below are some statics that really show IN Theta should be a regular every year.
- Total Money Raised: $4,851.50
- Place: 4th out of 15
- Compared to other “at-large chapters” (WKU, SDSU, Lindenwood) we raised $2711.50 more dollars than the other at large chapters combined, nearly 230% more
- Finally, this competition of 15 chapters raised a total of $44,525.54 for ALS
In conclusion, today is a great day to be a Phi at Indiana Theta. It’s incredible what we accomplished in 31 days! Yet, we’re not satisfied with the fourth place finish. Next year, if given the opportunity, our goal is to finish first. We were first on the moon…it’s time we add another first place finish to 503 W. State!
